Frankfurt, 16/6/2016 – These worlds astonish, irritate and amaze: Fotografie Forum Frankfurt presents nine examples of contemporary landscape photography in WONDERS OF THE WORLD from June 17th – September 11th, 2016. Each approach is very unique in showing how man deals with the environment and the landscape. The show addresses issues about generating energy resources and processing waste as well as man’s responsibility for the environment and the climate. LANDSCAPE IN MY MIND
In spring 2015, the Bank Austria Kunstforum Wien is presenting a comprehensive exhibition showing positions in contemporary landscape photography. »Landscape in my Mind« is a mental journey through different imaged articulations of the concept of landscape. The focus will be on contemporary neo-Pictorialist strategies: painterly tableaus in monumental format are placed in contrast to the sober objectivity of conventional black-and-white photos.

The forest – landscape of peculiar significance to mankind. Albeit that there are not many historical forests left in germany and it is long since the dying of the primeval forest has entered public discussion, but the forest as imaginary place has not lost its importance. Many cultures myths and tales root in their national forests and it might be that fact especially that makes the forests so interwoven with our day to day realities. Today, maybe more than ever, it signifies the return to nature, space to recover, place to regain inner strength and a more grounded lifestyle.

A nouveau, les travaux d'Olaf Otto Becker en Island durant l'été 2010 et l'été 2011 formèrent une quête dédicacé à la recherche des traces du temps. Le travail de ses visites précédentes, entre 1999 et 2002, fut publié dans le livre Under the Nordic Light en 2005. Cette année, nous sommes heureux de présenter "Under the Nordic Light, A Journey through Time" (Hatje Cantz, 2011), se traduisant comme un abrégé de tous ses travaux.

After his breathtaking, prize-winning photographs of the coast of Greenland in Broken Line, Olaf Otto Becker (*1959 in Travemünde) turns his attention to the interior of the island in his new series, Above Zero.
Second only to Antarctica, Greenland has the most expansive continental ice sheet in the world. Becker's spectacular portraits of this region are taken with a cumbersome and heavy large-format camera during physically strenuous, sometimes life-threatening tours among glacial crevasses and snowmelt flows.
