Les finalistess du Prix BMW - Paris Photo 2010
Destiné à soutenir la création contemporaine, le Prix BMW – Paris Photo est aujourd’hui une véritable référence internationale. Réservé aux artistes représentés par les galeries participantes et décerné par un jury prestigieux, ce Prix couronne chaque année l’œuvre d’un photographe contemporain sur un thème en relation avec l’univers BMW. L’artiste lauréat, désigné parmi une sélection de 20 finalistes exposés à Paris Photo, reçoit une dotation de 12 000 €.

Pour sa septième édition, le jury du Prix BMW – Paris Photo 2010 a sélectionné 20 artistes finalistes. Le thème de ce Prix, réservé aux artistes présentés par les galeries participantes à Paris Photo, est : « Vision électrique ».
Inspiré par la BMW Concept ActiveE, ce thème rend hommage à l’électricité qui façonne le devenir technologique de nos sociétés et transforme notre vision du monde.
Les 20 finalistes sélectionnés parmi 51 candidatures retenues seront exposés à Paris Photo du 18 au 21 novembre 2010. L’artiste lauréat recevra le Prix doté de 12 000 euros en ouverture du Salon le 17 novembre prochain.

Argentinean photographer Alejandro Chaskielberg has tonight, 27 April 2011, been announced as this year’s winner of the illustrious L’Iris D’Or, the 2011 Sony World Photography Awards Photographer of the Year. Over 105,000 images were entered into the 2011 competition from 162 countries. Chaskielberg was presented with the award during the Sony World Photography Awards Gala ceremony at the Odeon Leicester Square. Chaskielberg was chosen as the winner of the L’Iris D’Or by a panel of 12 judges. In addition to winning a $25,000 cash prize plus Sony digital SLR camera equipment, he joins previous L’Iris d’Or winners David Zimmerman, Vanessa Winship and Tommaso Ausili as a member of the World Photographic Academy. Opening of the 32nd edition of The AIPAD Photography Show New York
The Association of International Photography Art Dealers (AIPAD) will hold the 32nd edition of The AIPAD Photography Show New York, one of the world’s most important annual photography events, at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City.
Seventy-five of the world’s leading fine art photography galleries will present a wide range of museum-quality work, including contemporary, modern, and 19th-century photographs, as well as photo-based art, video, and new media. The AIPAD Photography Show New York is the longest running and foremost exhibition of fine art photography. The Show will commence with an opening night gala on March 28, 2012, to benefit inMotion, which provides free legal services to low-income women.

I have chosen a group of young photographers who neither provide a faithful representation of reality nor create an illusion, but who have impressed me with their ability to capture the essential aspects of life. These photos show the role photography can play as a witness. Photography may portray the world at its bleakest but we must remember to be positive towards the future and the opportunities that lie ahead.

Michael Hoppen Contemporary is delighted to announce HIGH TIDE, an exhibition of new work by Argentinean photographer Alejandro Chaskielberg, overall winner of this year's Sony World Photo Awards. HIGH TIDE is a series of colour photographs taken in the remote Paraná River Delta, Argentina, where Chaskielberg lived and worked from 2007 - 2010. His subjects are local residents of this isolated community who rely on the river for food, work, travel and communication with the wider world. His portraits are ethereal, dreamlike images that convey the everyday life of those photographed - lumberjacks shifting heavy timber, an aged hunter sitting by an open fire in contemplation, lovers walking under the stars.

Yossi Milo Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of color photographs by Argentinian artist Alejandro Chaskielberg entitled, The High Tide. The exhibition will open on June 2 and close on July 29, with an opening reception for the artist on Thursday, June 2, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. This will be the artist's first solo exhibition in the United States.
Interested in the relationship between people and their environment, Alejandro Chaskielberg has lived in the Paraná River Delta region in Argentina periodically since 2007. While there, he observes the daily routines of the local islanders: fishing, boating, and farming. Drawing from his background in film, the artist carefully recreates scenes from his observations and photographs them at night. The light sources used to illuminate the images are moon...
