Bonhams’ 16 November Photographs sale in London comprises works from the spread of the history of photography, from the 19th century to the present day. Starting in the Crimea in the 1850s, with two studies by Roger Fenton, we pass through late 19th century England with P.H. Emerson, before moving into Europe in the 20th century. Here, there is a strong section of 15 works by Willy Ronis, both vintage and later prints; vintage work by Brassai and Drtikol; and four early prints by Henri Cartier-Bresson. Celebrated images by renowned photographers Horst P. Horst, Norman Parkinson, Bill Brandt and Richard Avedon feature, before the sale is brought up to date with contemporary pieces by Corinne Day, Izima Kaoru, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Desiree Dolron and Vik Muniz.
