Book publisher Chris Boot is at HOST this Wednesday (28h October) in conversation with Max Houghton, to discuss the release of his new book, Georgia Spring.
Georgian Spring, featuring the work of 10 Magnum photographers and sponsored by the Georgian Ministry of Culture, initially grew out of photographer Thomas Dworzak's close relationship with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili. The book features the work of Antoine D'Agata, Jonas Bendiksen, Thomas Dworzak, Martine Franck, Alex Majoli, Gueorgui Pinkhassov, Martin Parr, Paolo Pellegrin, Mark Power and Alec Soth, along with written pieces from all photographers and archival images from Robert Capa and Henri Cartier-Bresson.
Boot will be speaking about the brief in creating the book and his own input in its presentation, edit and design, while also discussing where this project sits as a photography book, one that has a considerable change in function.
Chris Boot has been producing and editing photography books and exhibitions for over 20 years, having worked as Director of Magnum Photos in London and New York and as Editorial Director at Phaidon. As an independent publisher, Chris Boot Ltd makes books that explore ideas in photography, by photographers pushing the boundaries of the medium and seeking to reveal the history of photography afresh.
Georgian Spring will be available to purchase on the night.
